Pennsylvania Campus Compact

This site offers information on service learning and volunteer programs and initiatives at higher education institutions across the state of Pennsylvania. The site also contains information on student mini grants that can be used to fund a project that you might have in mind for S.U.

National Campus Compact

Campus Compact is a national coalition of more than 900 colleges and university presidents devoted to the civic purposes of higher education. To support this civic mission, Campus Compact promotes community service that develops students' citizenship skills and values, encourages partnerships between campuses and communities, and assists faculty who seek to integrate public and community engagement into their teaching and research.

Corporation for National Service (includes AmeriCorps and AmeriCorps*VISTA)

The Corporation for National and Community Service engages Americans of all ages and backgrounds in service to help strengthen communities through AmeriCorps, Senior Corps, and Learn and Serve America.

C.O.R.E. Susquehanna

Established in 1994, C.O.R.E. Susquehanna is an AmeriCorps*State Program serving Central Pennsylvania. C.O.R.E. Susquehanna members peform serivce in area schools, libraries, social service agencies and environmental agencies.

Points of Light Foundation

Based in Washington, DC, and works in communities throughout the United States through a network of over 500 Volunteer Centers. The Foundation is a nonpartisan nonprofit organization devoted to promoting volunteerism; believing that at the core of most social problems, lie disconnection and alienation.

YOUTH SERVICE AMERICA (YSA) is a resource center and premier alliance of 200+ organizations committed to increasing the quantity and quality of opportunities for young Americans to serve locally, nationally, or globally.

Teach NOLA

Green Corps Leadership Training Program

In 2007, Green Corps celebrates 15 years of training a new generation of young people in the skills and strategies of grassroots environmental organizing. Through partnerships with 75 environmental organizations, Green Corps organizers have provided critical field support to more than 100 campaigns, winning dozens of significant victories in conservation, corporate accountability, and public health.

AmeriCorps

AmeriCorps is a network of local, state, and national service programs that connects more than 70,000 Americans each year in intensive service to meet our country’s critical needs in education, public safety, health, and the environment. AmeriCorps members serve with more than 2,000 nonprofits, public agencies, and faith-based and community organizations. Since 1994, more than 400,000 men and women have provided needed assistance to millions of Americans across the nation through their AmeriCorps service.

Peace Corps

The Peace Corps traces its roots and mission to 1960, when then Senator John F. Kennedy challenged students at the University of Michigan to serve their country in the cause of peace by living and working in developing countries. From that inspiration grew an agency of the federal government devoted to world peace and friendship. Since that time, more than 190,000 Peace Corps Volunteers have been invited by 139 host countries to work on issues ranging from AIDS education to information technology and environmental preservation.

CIEE international teaching programs

CIEE: The Council on International Educational Exchange is the leading U.S. non-governmental international education organization. CIEE creates and administers programs that allow high school and university students and educators to study and teach abroad.

Change it!

The Change It program is an all-expenses-paid week of grassroots educational training in Washington, D.C., July 20 to 26, led by the experts from Greenpeace and other progressive organizations. Building on last year's success, the program will teach 200 dedicated full- and part-time students, ages 18 to 24, how to take on the toughest global challenges of our time.

City Year

An "action tank" for national service, City Year seeks to demonstrate, improve and promote the concept of national service as a means for building a stronger democracy. An action tank is both a program and a think tank - constantly combining theory and practice to advance new policy ideas, make programmatic breakthroughs, and bring about major changes in society.
