Werronen Among Four Crusaders on Landmark Spring All-Academic Team

SELINSGROVE, Pa.– Four Susquehanna University student-athletes are among the 32 honored with selection to the 2008 Spring Landmark All-Academic Team. Juniors Jeffrey Brooks (Cogan Station, Pa./Meadowbrook Christian) and Patrick Donegan (Lewisburg, Pa./Lewisburg) from the men's track & field team, senior Ashley Moormann (Stanhope, NJ/Pope John XXIII) from women's track & field and junior Shelby Werronen (Concord, Ohio/Riverside) from the women's tennis team were Susquehanna's selections.

Werronen was a standout on the court and off for the Susquehanna women's tennis team. Playing only in the fall season, she recorded a singles record of 5-4 in singles competition to go along with a 2-1 mark in doubles play. The junior accounting major studied abroad during the spring season, but has also earned conference academic honor roll status during her career.

Two male and two female athletes from each of the eight Landmark institutions were selected for the team which honors athletes who have excelled athletically and academically. Nominees could compete in any of the Landmark winter sports and must be at least a sophomore with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better. The Landmark Conference sponsors men's and women's basketball, men's and women's swimming & diving and men's and women's indoor track & field during the winter season.

The Winter All-Academic Team features 16 seniors, 13 juniors and a trio of sophomores. In addition, all six winter sports sponsored by the Landmark Conference are represented with at least one student-athlete. The Landmark Conference will select an All-Academic Team for each of the three athletics seasons during the year.
