Kane Among Four Crusaders on Landmark Conference Winter All-Academic Team
SELINSGROVE, Pa.– Four Susquehanna University student-athletes are among the 32 honored with selection to the 2007-08 Winter Landmark All-Academic Team. Junior Jeffrey Brooks (Cogan Station, Pa./Meadowbrook Christian) from the men's indoor track & field team, senior Jeffrey Fornadley (Hummelstown, Pa./Hershey) from the men's swimming & diving team, junior Amanda Kane (Tamaqua, Pa./Tamaqua) from the women's swimming & diving team and senior Ruth Williamson (State College, Pa./DuBois Central Catholic) from the women's basketball team were the Crusaders' selections.
Kane was a key performer for the Susquehanna women's swimming & diving team that enjoyed one of the best seasons in program history. She was one of the top freestyle swimmers on the team and was a part of two top-four relays at the 2008 Landmark Championships. A Landmark Conference Academic Honor Roll recipient, she is an accounting major at Susquehanna.
Two male and two female athletes from each of the eight Landmark institutions were selected for the team which honors athletes who have excelled athletically and academically. Nominees could compete in any of the Landmark winter sports and must be at least a sophomore with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better. The Landmark Conference sponsors men's and women's basketball, men's and women's swimming & diving and men's and women's indoor track & field during the winter season.
The Winter All-Academic Team features 16 seniors, 13 juniors and a trio of sophomores. In addition, all six winter sports sponsored by the Landmark Conference are represented with at least one student-athlete. The Landmark Conference will select an All-Academic Team for each of the three athletics seasons during the year.
