Burtnett Among Three Crusaders Named Landmark Senior Scholar Athletes
SELINSGROVE, Pa.– Three Susquehanna University athletes are among the eight chosen as Landmark SeniorScholar Athletes for their respective spring sports. The honorees are Luke Burtnett (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cumberland Valley) for men's lacrosse, Danielle McCann (Berkeley Heights, N.J./Governor Livingston) for softball and Sarah Burkhardt (Hoffman Estates, Ill./Schaumburg) for women's outdoor track & field.
Burtnett was a strong all-around contributor for the Susquehanna lacrosseprogram. He earned four letters for theCrusaders as a defender and made 39 starts in 54 games played over his career. He contributed 68 ground balls as a defender during that career, including a career-high 24 ground balls as a senior. He also posted one assist, which came in his freshman year. Burtnett graduated magna cum laude from Susquehanna with a degree in broadcasting. He was a member of conference academic honor rolls multiple times over his four-year career and also worked as a disc jockey for WQSU during his time at the University.
A committee of Landmark Conference officers, athletics directors and sports information directors selected the recipients, choosing one senior from each of the spring sports sponsored by the conference. The honorees must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.2 and are selected based on their accomplishments in all areas of college life, including athletics, academics and other extracurricular activities.
The Landmark Conference honored Senior Scholar Athletes in each of the 20 varsity sports sponsored by the conference over the course of the 2007-08 academic year. Burtnett, McCann and Burkhardt bring the total of Crusaders honorees for the year to six, the most of any Landmark school.
