Results

VICTOR, N.Y.; ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Senior Nicholas Paone (Peckville, Pa./Valley View) won his second straight tournament in his final collegiate event, and the Susquehanna University men's golf team placed third of five teams at the Nazareth Fall Shoot-Out, held at Ravenwood Golf Club and Irondequoit Country Club from Oct. 5–6.

Paone was the medalist at the SU Fall Invitational on Sept. 27 and took those same honors at this event by scoring a combined 147 over the two days to beat 24 other golfers. He fired a 75 on the first day at the par-72, 6,642-yard course at Ravenwood in Victor, N.Y., before scoring a 72 the next day at the par-71, 6,645-yard course at Irondequoit in Rochester, N.Y.

Paone had only one semester of NCAA eligibility left, so his 2008–09 season and collegiate career are complete.

Freshman Vincent DeMaio (Port Jefferson Station, N.Y./Comsewogue) and sophomore Adam Puskar (Whitehall, Pa./Allentown Central Catholic) tied for ninth place with scores of 155. DeMaio shot a 77 on day one and a 78 on day two. Puskar went 79–76.

Sophomore Ryan Redfern (Caldwell, N.J./James Caldwell) fired a 160 (79–81) to tie for 16th. Freshman John Jaques (Easton, Pa./Easton Area) worked in a 78 on day two that counted towards Susquehanna's team total. (The top four scores out of a team's five golfers counts.) Jaques also totaled an 84 on day one to finish tied for 19th overall with a combined score of 162.

The Crusaders turned in a team score of 614. Allegheny College won the extremely close event with a 612, and St. John Fisher College was second with a 613.

Sept. 27: 4/18 at SU Fall Invitational Results

HUMMELS WHARF, Pa. — Senior Nicholas Paone (Peckville, Pa./Valley View) notched a score of 72 to capture the individual title and lead host Susquehanna University’s “A” team to a fourth-place finish out of 18 total teams at the SU Fall Invitational at the Susquehanna Valley Country Club on Sept. 27

Paone held off 89 other golfers on the par-70, 6,300-yard course, including four with scores of 73, to earn the title of medalist at the event.

The rest of the top four of Susquehanna’s “A” team were sophomore Ryan Redfern (Caldwell, N.J./James Caldwell), who shot a 76, and freshman Vincent DeMaio (Port Jefferson Station, N.Y./Comsewogue) and sophomore Adam Puskar (Whitehall, Pa/Allentown Central Catholic), who both shot an 80.

Susquehanna “A” scored 308 as a team. Franklin & Marshall College won the event with a score of 303, just one shot ahead of both Muhlenberg College and Wilkes University.

Susquehanna “A” actually tied with McDaniel College’s identical score of 308, but an 81 shot by Susquehanna’s fifth-man — freshman John Jaques (Easton, Pa./Easton Area) — was better than McDaniel’s fifth-man’s score of 85.

Among the teams that finished behind Susquehanna’s “A” squad were NCAA Division I teams Saint Peter’s College and Manhattan College. St. Peter’s finished eighth, while Manhattan placed 12th, just one stroke ahead of the Crusaders’ “B” team.

The top four on Susquehanna “B” (13th place) were freshmen Philip Zuhusky (Norwood, N.J./Northern Valley Regional at Old Tappan) and Kevin Willett (Ridgewood, N.J./Ridgewood), who also shot 80s, and freshmen David Phelan (Devon, Pa./Devon Prep) and Patrick DiMartino (East Hanover, N.J./Hanover Park), both of whom scored an 84. Susquehanna “B” scored 328 as a team.

Sept. 25: 9/12 at Blue Jay Classic Results

HUMMELSTOWN, Pa. — Freshman Vincent DeMaio (Port Jefferson Station, N.Y./Comsewogue) finished in a tie for 16th place out of 60 golfers to lead Susquehanna University to a 9th-place finish out of 12 teams at Elizabethtown College's Blue Jay Classic at Hershey Links on Sept. 25.

DeMaio shot an 80 on the par-72, 6,621-yard course.

Susquehanna's senior Nicholas Paone (Peckville, Pa./Valley View) shot an 84 to tie for 32nd place. Sophomore Ryan Redfern (Caldwell, N.J./James Caldwell) fired an 87 to tie for 43rd, while sophomore Adam Puskar (Whitehall, Pa./Allentown Central Catholic) and freshman Philip Zuhusky (Norwood, N.J./Northern Valley Regional at Old Tappan) finished with scores of 91 and 94, respectively, to place 55th and tie for 56th.

The Crusaders turned in a team score of 342. Franklin & Marshall College won the event with a card of 305.

Sept. 22: No team score at Lebanon Valley Fall Invitational Results

Senior Nicholas Paone (Peckville, Pa./Valley View) led the Crusaders with a score of 75 on the par-72, 6,564-yard course to finish in a tie for 19th place out of 107 golfers.

Freshman David Phelan (Devon, Pa./Devon Prep) shot an 81 to tie for 52nd, and freshman Dylan Kramer (Milford, Conn./Hamden Hall Country Day School) scored an 88 to tie for 88th.

Sept. 19: 6/20 at Moravian Fall Invitational Results

BATH, Pa. — Sophomore Adam Puskar (Whitehall, Pa./Allentown Central Catholic) finished in second place out of 98 golfers to lead Susquehanna University to a sixth-place finish out of 20 teams at the Moravian Fall Invitational at Southmoore Golf Course on Sept. 19.

Puskar shot a 73 on the par-71, 6,193-yard course to finish just three strokes behind the medalist from King's College (Pa.).

Susquehanna's five-man team total was 312, which actually tied with two other teams for the fifth-best score. The tiebreak — best score by each team's fifth-best-scoring golfer — decided the final placing.

Sophomore Ryan Redfern (Caldwell, N.J./James Caldwell) finished in a tie for 10th place with a score of 76. Freshman Philip Zuhusky (Norwood, N.J./Northern Valley Regional at Old Tappan) finished tied for 18th with a 78. Freshman Kevin Willett (Ridgewood, N.J./Ridgewood) shot an 85 to tie for 66th. Patrick DiMartino (East Hanover, N.J./Hanover Park) rounded out the Crusaders card with an 88 that tied him for 79th.
