SELINSGROVE, Pa. Susquehanna University's junior forward Andrea Fiori (West Trenton, N.J./Lawrenceville School) scored the game's first goal, but visiting Juniata College scored the most goals in a 21 win of a Landmark Conference championships semifinal at Sassafras Fields on Nov. 5.
Susquehanna (811 overall) was the Landmark tournament's No. 2 seed. Juniata (812 overall) was No. 3 and the defending conference champion.
Senior forward Maggie Kramer (Royersford, Pa./Villa Maria Academy) assisted on the lone Susquehanna goal.
Freshman Erin Ferguson (Mount Laurel, N.J./Seneca) made six saves in the cage for SU. The Juniata goalkeeper made two.
Fiori's game goal came 8 minutes, 48 seconds into the first half when she beat the Eagles goalie into the bottom-right corner of the cage.
Juniata responded with back-to-back goals off penalty corners. The first was a last-second tip-in of a deep shot in the 20th minute. The difference-maker came just 53 seconds into the second half off as the result of some good passing.
Prior to the game-winning goal, a Juniata midfielder made an important defensive save in the 25th minute. The Eagles player knocked a shot by the Crusaders' senior back Jenelle Anthony (Saylorsburg, Pa./Stroudsburg) out of midair as it was about to cross the goal line.
Juniata outshot Susquehanna, 177, over the course of the game. Penalty corners were even at 88.
Juniata advances to the 2008 conference championship game to play host and No. 1-seeded The Catholic University of America on Saturday, Nov. 8, at a time to be determined. Catholic defeated visiting No. 4 The University of Scranton, 10, in the other semifinal. That game was also played on Nov. 5.
Nov. 1 (Senior Day): Susquehanna 1, Catholic 2 Box Score
SELINSGROVE, Pa. — Host Susquehanna University dropped a 2–1 decision to The Catholic University of America on Senior Day at Sassafras Fields on Nov. 1.
Playing for the Landmark Conference regular-season championship, both teams entered the game with perfect conference records of 5–0. In a very back-and-forth game, Catholic (11–6, 6–0 Landmark) kept their untarnished record, while Susquehanna (8–10, 5–1 Landmark) dropped to the No.-2 seed. Both will host playoffs games on Wednesday, Nov. 5.
In the 15th minute of play, Catholic scored the first goal of the day on a penalty corner. Susquehanna responded at 23 minutes, 28 seconds when freshman back Laurel Monaghan (East Fallowfield, Pa./Coatesville Area) handed the ball off to sophomore back Julia Amendola (Mountain Top, Pa./Bishop Hoban) on a penalty-corner play to knot the game at one apiece.
A Catholic forward collected a loose ball off the pads of freshman goalkeeper Erin Ferguson (Mount Laurel, N.J./Seneca) to score the game-winning goal at 44:33.
The Cardinals held a 20–11 advantage in shots and edged the Crusaders, 12–9, in penalty corners.
Seniors Jenelle Anthony (Saylorsburg, Pa./Stroudsburg), Kristen Epting (Hamburg, Pa./Hamburg), and Maggie Kramer (Royersford, Pa./Villa Maria Academy) where honored prior to the game for their combined 12 seasons of play for the Orange and Maroon.
Ferguson tallied eight stops in goal for the Crusaders.
Oct. 28: Susquehanna 1, #13 Elizabethtown 2 Box Score
SELINSGROVE, Pa. — Nationally ranked No. 13 Elizabethtown College outlasted host Susquehanna University, 2–1, in a non-conference game as Sassafras Fields on Oct. 28.
Despite a crowded circle, senior midfielder and co-captain Kristen Epting (Hamburg, Pa./Hamburg) connected with a send into the circle from freshman back Laurel Monaghan (East Fallowfield, Pa./Coatesville Area) 14 minutes, 33 seconds into the game to give Susquehanna (8–9 overall) an early 1–0 lead.
Aided by a pair of defensive saves by freshman midfielder Diana Mask (Wilmington, Del./Mount Pleasant) and Monaghan, Elizabethtown (16–3 overall) was held silent until scoring in the 57th minute.
At 62:25, the Blue Jays struck again to put the game away.
Freshman Erin Ferguson (Mount Laurel, N.J./Seneca) tallied eight saves in goal for the Crusaders, while the Blue Jays goalkeeper was forced to make one save for the visiting squad.
Oct. 25: Susquehanna 4, Drew 1 Box Score
MADISON, N.J. — Senior forward Maggie Kramer (Royersford, Pa./Villa Maria Academy) and junior forward Andrea Fiori (West Trenton, N.J./Lawrenceville School) tallied two goals apiece to lead visiting Susquehanna University to a 4–1 victory over Drew University at Ranger Stadium on Oct. 25.
Susquehanna (8–8, 5–0 Landmark) outshot Drew (8–9, 2–3 Landmark), 11–8, and held a 7–5 edge in penalty corners.
In the 17th minute of play, Kramer connected with an assist off the stick of sophomore back Julia Amendola (Mountain Top, Pa./Bishop Hoban) to score the Crusaders' first of four goals.
In the 30th minute, Fiori deflected a ball off a Rangers defender into the goal to take a 2–0 lead into the half.
Susquehanna would score two goals to Drew’s one in the second half to put the game away. In the 39th minute, Susquehanna was awarded a penalty corner which led to Fiori’s second goal of the day. Senior midfielder Jenelle Anthony (Saylorsburg, Pa./Stroudsburg) inserted the ball into play before freshman back Laurel Monaghan (East Fallowfield, Pa./Coatesville Area) passed to Fiori for the goal.
Drew got on the board less than four minutes later in a similar penalty corner situation, making the score 3–1.
With time all but expired, Kramer capitalized on an assist from freshman midfielder Diana Mask (Wilmington, Del./Mount Pleasant) to finalize the scoreboard count at 4–1.

Oct. 18: Susquehanna 4, Moravian 0 Box Score
SELINSGROVE, Pa. — Junior forward Andrea Fiori (West Trenton, N.J./Lawrenceville School) scored two goals, including the eventual game-winner, to help host Susquehanna University stay atop the Landmark Conference standings with a 4–0 victory over Moravian College at Sassafras Fields on Oct. 18.
Susquehanna (7–8, 4–0 Landmark) outshot Moravian (5–9, 1–3 Landmark), 27–1, and held a 13–1 advantage in penalty corners.
In the 31st minute, Fiori connected off an assist from senior forward Maggie Kramer (Royersford, Pa./Villa Maria Academy) to take a 1–0 lead into the half.
Susquehanna scored three additional goals in the second half to put the Greyhounds away. In the 44th minute, senior midfielder Jenelle Anthony (Saylorsburg, Pa./Stroudsburg) deflected a shot by sophomore midfielder Rebecca Entwistle (Farmingdale, N.J./Wall) past the Moravian goalkeeper on a penalty corner. Less than three minutes later, Susquehanna struck again when Fiori capitalized on a Courtney Salsman (Selinsgrove, Pa./Selinsgrove Area) pass to find the back of the cage for the second time of the day.
In the 62nd minute, the Orange and Maroon finalized the scoreboard count when Entwistle made the most of a scramble in front of the Moravian cage.
Freshman Erin Ferguson (Mount Laurel, N.J./Seneca) made one save in the first half to clinch her fourth shutout of the season and Susquehanna's first-ever berth in the Landmark field hockey championships.
Oct. 15: Susquehanna 0, #10 Rowan 8 Box Score
GLASSBORO, N.J. — Nationally ranked No.10 Rowan University blanked visiting Susquehanna University, 8–0, in a non-conference game on Oct. 15.
Rowan (9–3 overall) scored four times in each half against Susquehanna (6–8 overall) to snap the Crusaders' five-game winning streak.
Freshman Erin Ferguson (Mount Laurel, N.J./Seneca) started in goal for SU and made five saves in 43 minutes, 22 seconds, while sophomore Natasha Eisenhart (Gordon, Pa./Conrad Weiser) made four in the remaining 26:38. The Profs used a different goalkeeper for each half, but neither was forced to make a save.
Next Game: Saturday, Oct. 18, vs. Moravian (Landmark Conference game), 1 p.m.
Oct. 11: Susquehanna 8, Elmira 0 Box Score
SELINSGROVE, Pa. — Seven separate Susquehanna University players scored goals, and Kristen Epting (Hamburg, Pa./Hamburg) added four assists in an 8–0 non-conference victory over visiting Elmira College at Sassafras Fields on Oct. 11.
Susquehanna (6-7 overall) outshot Elmira (1-11 overall), 30–2, and held a 19–1 advantage in penalty corners.
The Crusaders opened scoring 2 minutes, 3 seconds into the first half with the eventual game-winning goal by sophomore forward Caitlin Peterson (York, Pa./Central York) on an assist from junior back Courtney Salsman (Selinsgrove, Pa./Selinsgrove Area). A penalty corner taken by senior midfielder Jenelle Anthony (Saylorsburg, Pa./Stroudsburg) and stick-stopped by Epting was put away by freshman back Laurel Monaghan (East Fallowfield, Pa./Coatesville Area) giving the Crusaders a 2–0 lead at 4:57.
At 10:30, Anthony deflected a shot by Epting high into the left corner of the cage before sophomore back Julia Amendola (Mountain Top, Pa./Bishop Hoban) tallied her own goal at 19:41 following a scramble in front of the cage. Salsman collected SU’s fifth goal of the day off a Monaghan feed at 20:50 to close out the first half.
Senior forward Maggie Kramer (Royersford, Pa./Villa Maria Academy) put the Orange and Maroon up, 6–0, at 42:03 with the Elmira goalie out of position. To finalize the scoreboard count at 8–0, freshman midfielder Katie Laffey (Unionville, Pa./Unionville) scored her first four collegiate points with back-to-back goals aided by Epting assists at 58:23 and 60:33, respectively.
Freshman Erin Ferguson (Mount Laurel, N.J./Seneca) was not forced to make a save in the first half, while sophomore Natasha Eisenhart (Gordon, Pa./Conrad Weiser) stopped one shot in the second, sharing the Susquehanna shutout.
Oct. 7: Susquehanna 2, Juniata 1 (OT) Box Score
SELINSGROVE, Pa. Senior forward Maggie Kramer (Royersford, Pa./Villa Maria Academy) deflected a shot by freshman forward Anna Spisak (Boiling Springs, Pa./Boiling Springs) for the game-winning goal in double overtime, and host Susquehanna University topped the defending Landmark Conference champion Juniata College, 21, at Sassafras Fields on Oct. 7.
Neither team scored in the first half. Juniata (310, 12 Landmark) broke the scoreless tie with a goal in the 45th minute. The Eagles attacker took a pass from a teammate and fired a deep shot that deflected off a Susquehanna (57, 30 Landmark) defender and into the cage.
Susquehanna spent 10 critical minutes in the second half down one player following a yellow card, but the Crusaders defense swelled up to prevent an insurance goal.
SU finally got on the board with just 8 minutes, 24 seconds left in regulation on an unassisted goal from junior back Courtney Salsman (Selinsgrove, Pa./Selinsgrove Area) following a scramble in front of the Eagles cage.
Freshman Erin Ferguson (Mount Laurel, N.J./Seneca) made nine saves for SU, including four big stops in overtime, while Juniata's goalkeeper made seven total saves.
The statistics told the story of this back-and-forth game. Susquehanna held a narrow edge in shots and penalty corners, 1615 and 1211, respectively.
The Crusaders stand alone in first place in the conference.
Oct. 4: Susquehanna 1, Goucher 0 (OT) Box Score
TOWSON, Md. — Senior midfielder Jenelle Anthony (Saylorsburg, Pa./Stroudsburg) scored off an assist from junior back Courtney Salsman (Selinsgrove, Pa./Selinsgrove Area) in the 74th minute to give visiting Susquehanna University its second straight Landmark Conference win, 1–0 over Goucher College, on Oct. 4. The win put the Crusaders in first place in the conference.
In a tight contest, Susquehanna (4–7, 2–0 Landmark) freshman Erin Ferguson (Mount Laurel, N.J./Seneca) was vital in making four saves for her second shutout of 2008. The Goucher (3–8, 0–2 Landmark) goalkeeper made five saves before allowing the Anthony goal just 3 minutes, 55 seconds into the extra period.
Shots were close with SU taking seven to the Gophers’ six, but the Crusaders held a 19–5 advantage in penalty corners.
Sept. 27: Susquehanna 1, Scranton 0 Box Score
SCRANTON, Pa. — Freshman forward Anna Spisak (Boiling Springs, Pa./Boiling Springs) scored on a redirect of a shot from freshman back Laurel Monaghan (East Fallowfield, Pa./Coatesville Area) to help visiting Susquehanna University to a 1–0 Landmark Conference victory over The University of Scranton at Fitzpatrick Field on Sept. 27.
Following a scoreless first half, Susquehanna (3–7, 1–0 Landmark) earned a penalty corner in the 49th minute. Monaghan fired a shot from the top of the circle before Spisak converted the play for the game’s only goal.
Five minutes earlier, freshman Erin Ferguson (Mount Laurel, N.J./Seneca) made a successful save on a penalty stroke taken by Scranton (5–5, 0–1 Landmark). A defensive save by sophomore back Julia Amendola (Mountain Top, Pa./Bishop Hoban) on the goal line led to the penalty stroke.
Ferguson finished with four saves.
Sept. 24: Susquehanna 4, Washington & Jefferson 3 (OT) Box Score
SELINSGROVE, Pa. Sophomore back Julia Amendola (Mountaintop, Pa./Bishop Hoban) scored one goal and assisted on two others, including the game-winner by sophomore midfielder Rebecca Entwistle (Farmingdale, N.J./Wall) 3 minutes, 55 seconds into overtime, to push Susquehanna University past visiting Washington & Jefferson College at Sassafras Fields on Sept. 24.
Freshman back Laurel Monaghan (East Fallowfield, Pa./Coatesville Area) scored the game's first goal for Susquehanna (27 overall) off a penalty corner 6:54 into the first half. Senior midfielders Kristen Epting (Hamburg, Pa./Hamburg Area) and Jenelle Anthony (Saylorsburg, Pa./Stroudsburg) assisted.
Washington & Jefferson (5-2 overall) answered with a score in the 14th minute when a Presidents forward deflected a long pass past the Crusaders' freshman goalkeeper Erin Ferguson (Mount Laurel, N.J./Seneca).
In what would be the theme of the game, the scoring continued to go back-and-forth from there. Epting put Susquehanna back on top off Amendola's assist. The play was almost a carbon copy of the W & J goal less than 4:30 earlier, as Epting deflected Amendola's long pass past the Presidents' goalkeeper. The score was 21 at halftime.
W & J scored the first goal of the second half unassisted in the 52nd minute. A Presidents player fought for a rebound in front of the Susquehanna cage before getting enough of a shot off to tie the game at 22.
Another penalty corner led to a Crusaders goal less than 5:00 later as Amendola finished off a Monaghan assist.
W & J got the equalizer just 1:08 after Amendola's goal though when a player freed herself from the Susquehanna defense for another unassisted goal.
Ferguson made three saves the rest of the way, and the Presidents' keeper made one to keep the game tied at 33 heading into the overtime period. Ferguson finished with eight total saves; the W & J goalie had three.
The Crusaders had lost their six previous games by just one goal each time, including three that were decided past regulation, but they finally broke through against the Presidents. Entwistle beat the W & J goalie off the Amendola assist to send the SU sidelines onto the field for a raucous celebration.
W & J actually outshot Susquehanna, 1610, but the Crusaders held a pivotal edge in penalty corners, 119.
Sept. 21: Susquehanna 0, Stevens Tech 1 Box Score
HOBOKEN, N.J. Shots on goal were even at 33, but one of those shots found the back of the cage for Stevens Institute of Technology as the Ducks blanked the visitors from Susquehanna University, 10, at De Baun Athletic Complex on Sept. 21.
Susquehanna (17 overall) had a chance for the game's first goal on a penalty stroke just 2 minutes, 11 seconds into the first half. Stevens Tech (82 overall) substituted in their backup goalkeeper for just that occasion, and she made the important save.
The Ducks scored the game's only goal in the 29th minute when their forward came in from the right side to beat Crusaders freshman goalkeeper Erin Ferguson (Mount Laurel, N.J./Seneca) on a one-on-one.
Ferguson kept the Crusaders in the game despite being outshot, 115. She and Stevens Tech's starting goalie both made two saves.
Sept. 20: Susquehanna 2, #14 Montclair State 3 Box Score
MONTCLAIR, N.J. Freshman Erin Ferguson (Mount Laurel, N.J./Seneca) made eight saves, including five in the second half, but visiting Susquehanna University fell, 32, to nationally ranked No. 14 Montclair State at Sprague Field on Sept. 20.
Susquehanna (16 overall) gave the Red Hawks (70 overall) all that they could handle. The Crusaders were outshot, 159, but held an 87 advantage in penalty corners.
Montclair State opened the scoring with a penalty-stroke goal in the 24th minute. Susquehanna answered just 2 minutes, 41 seconds later with a goal by freshman forward Anna Spisak (Boiling Springs, Pa./Boiling Springs). Spisak deflected a shot from sophomore back Julia Amendola (Mountaintop, Pa./Bishop Hoban) over the Monarchs' goalkeeper. Amendola was credited with an assist on the play. The score was 11 at halftime.
Montclair State scored the next two goals. The first of those came in the 56th minute, and the eventual game-winner came off off a penalty corner in the 60th.
With time expired but play continuing on a penalty corner for the Crusaders, freshman back Laurel Monaghan (East Fallowfield, Pa./Coatesville Area) took a feed from senior midfielder Jenelle Anthony (Saylorsburg, Pa./Stroudsburg) to beat the Montclair State goalie at exactly the 70-minute mark and provide the final margin.
Amendola made a defensive save in the 17th minute, and Montclair State had a goal disallowed on a high-stick call in the 23rd to put the game's outcome in doubt until the last few minutes.
Sept. 18: Susquehanna 2, York (Pa.) 3 Box Score
YORK, Pa. Freshman forward Anna Spisak (Boiling Springs, Pa./Boiling Springs) tied the game in the 53rd minute, but the York College of Pennsylvania countered with a goal with just 5 minutes, 45 seconds left in the contest to escape with a 32 win over visiting Susquehanna University at Grumbacher Sport and Fitness Center on Sept. 18.
Senior midfielder Kristen Epting (Hamburg, Pa./Hamburg) assisted on Spisak's goal, which finished the climb from a 20 deficit for Susquehanna (15 overall) after the first half.
York (43 overall) outshot the Crusaders, 132, in the first 35-minute period and took nine penalty corners to Susquehanna's two, but play evened out in the second with penalty corners square at 55 and Susquehanna outshooting the Spartans, 73.
York's game-winner wiped out Spisak's goal and a goal from Crusaders junior forward Andrea Fiori (West Trenton, N.J./Lawrenceville School). Fiori started the SU comeback with an unassisted goal in the 44th minute. She collected a loose ball in front of the Spartans cage just long enough to find the back of the net.
The Spartans scored the game's opening goal exactly 17 minutes into the first half off a penalty corner and made the score 20 in the 27th minute.
The York goalkeeper made three saves, while freshman Erin Ferguson (Mount Laurel, N.J./Seneca) made five for Susquehanna.
Sept. 12: Susquehanna 1, William Paterson 2 (OT) Box Score
SELINSGROVE, Pa. Freshman back Laurel Monaghan (East Fallowfield, Pa./Coatesville Area) scored off a penalty corner in the 60th minute to tie the game at 11, but Susquehanna University fell in overtime to visiting William Paterson University, 21, at Sassafras Fields on Sept. 12.
Senior midfielder Kristen Epting (Hamburg, Pa./Hamburg) and freshman midfielder Diana Mask (Wilmington, Del./Mount Pleasant) picked up assists for Susquehanna (14 overall), which lost for the third-straight time in a game decided past regulation. William Paterson (41 overall) was playing in its first overtime game this year.
The Pioneers scored first in the 29th minute off a breakaway. William Paterson held a 60 advantage in both shots and penalty corners in the first half.
The Crusaders had a golden opportunity to tie the game when they were awarded a penalty stroke in the 58th minute, but the Pioneers' goalkeeper made a spectacular save by diving to her right to get a stick on the shot and preserve the lead.
That save would prove to be crucial as Susquehanna tied the game just 2 minutes, 37 seconds later. William Paterson's keeper finished the game with three saves, while freshman Erin Ferguson (Mount Laurel, N.J./Seneca) made six saves for the Crusaders.
Play evened out a bit in the second half. William Paterson held only a 75 edge in shots during the latter 35-minute period and an 83 advantage in penalty corners.
Nevertheless, William Paterson scored off a 2-on-1 break with 5:02 remaining in the first overtime period to end the game.
Susquehanna took the lone penalty corner during overtime.
Sept. 7: Susquehanna 1, Alvernia 2 (OT) Box Score
READING, Pa. Freshman Erin Ferguson (Mount Laurel, N.J./Seneca) made 10 saves, including three in overtime, but visiting Susquehanna University fell to Alvernia College, 21 in overtime, in a field hockey game on Sept. 7.
Alvernia (22 overall), improves to 21 in games decided past regulation. Susquehanna (13 overall) falls to 12 in such games.
Susquehanna's junior forward Andrea Fiori (West Trenton, N.J./Lawrenceville School) scored the game's first goal in the 22nd minute. Fiori collected a rebound in front of the Alvernia cage and beat the goalkeeper to the left side of the net for her first two points of the 2008 season. The goal was unassisted.
Ferguson was outstanding in keeping the visiting Crusaders ahead, 10 at halftime, despite being outshot, 13-3, in the first 35 minutes. (Both teams are nicknamed Crusaders.)
Alvernia scored in the 46th minute to force overtime and then netted the game-winner with just 1 minute, 11 seconds remaining in the first overtime period.
This game was originally scheduled to be played on Saturday, Sept. 8, at 1 p.m.
Sept. 3: Susquehanna 0, Wilkes 1 (PS) Box Score
SELINSGROVE, Pa. Freshman Erin Ferguson (Mount Laurel, N.J./Seneca) made 19 saves the third-highest single-game total in program history but Susquehanna University fell to visiting Wilkes University, 10 on penalty strokes, at Sassafras Fields on Sept. 3.
Wilkes (20 overall) won on strokes for the second time in a row. Susquehanna (12 overall) is now 11 in games decided by stroke-offs.
Ferguson was nothing short of fantastic in goal for the Crusaders. She got a little bit of help when sophomore back Julia Amendola (Mountaintop, Pa./Bishop Hoban) made a defensive save with 8 minutes, 3 seconds left in the first half, but Ferguson stood on her head the rest of the way to force two full overtime periods.
The Colonels' goalkeeper made seven saves, not including two stops in the stroke-off. The first two shooters for each team found the back of the net. Wilkes scored next, followed by two saves from the Wilkes goalie. The Colonels scored next to seal the shootout win by a score of 41.
Aug. 30: Susquehanna 1, Misericordia 3 Box Score
WHITEHALL, Pa. Sophomore forward Caitlin Peterson (York, Pa./Central York) scored an unassisted goal, and freshman Erin Ferguson (Mount Laurel, N.J./Seneca) made two saves for Susquehanna University, but the Crusaders fell, 31, to Misericordia University at Whitehall High School on Aug. 30.
Three different players scored one goal each and three more added one assist each for Misericordia (11 overall). The Cougars' goalkeeper made one save. The Crusaders (11 overall) made three saves as a team, as sophomore Natasha Eisenhart (Gordon, Pa./Conrad Weiser) made a save in relief of Ferguson , who started the game and played the first 45 minutes, 47 seconds.
Misericordia held an 84 advantage in shots, but Susquehanna took seven penalty corners to the Cougars' four.

WHITEHALL, Pa. — Susquehanna University came back from a 2-0 deficit with under seven minutes to play and posted a 2-1 advantage in penalty strokes to stage a dramatic 3-2 win against Muhlenberg College in Muhlenberg’s field hockey Mule Classic at Whitehall High School on Aug. 29.
Senior midfielder Jenelle Anthony (Saylorsburg, Pa./Stroudsburg) scored first for Susquehanna (1-0 overall) during the penalty stroke-off, followed by a save from freshman goalkeeper Erin Ferguson (Mount Laurel, N.J./Seneca). Muhlenberg (0-1 overall) scored on the next exchange to even the stroke tallies at one each. Senior forward Maggie Kramer (Royersford, Pa./Villa Maria Academy) scored next though, and Ferguson made three straight saves to ice the stroke-off at 2-1.
Despite Susquehanna outshooting the Mules, 6-2, in the first half, the game was scoreless heading into the second frame. Muhlenberg scored one minute, six seconds into the second half to take the first lead, then followed that with a score with 13:57 remaining to go ahead, 2-0.
Sophomore midfielder Rebecca Entwistle (Farmingdale, N.J./Wall) tipped in an assist from senior midfielder Kristen Epting (Hamburg, Pa./Hamburg) off a penalty corner with 11:59 remaining to halve the lead, and sophomore back Julia Amendola (Mountain Top, Pa./Bishop Hoban) tipped in an assist from junior back Courtney Salsman (Selinsgrove, Pa./Selinsgrove Area) just two-and-a-half minutes later to tie it.
Neither team could score in either of the two 15-minute overtime periods, which set the stage for Ferguson’s heroics in the stroke-off. Ferguson made six of her seven saves during the overtime periods, including four in the second extra frame.
