Susquehanna Rowing
The Susquehanna University men's and women's rowing teams are highly-active club, or non-varsity, sports teams that engage in two-part seasons. During the fall, the teams participate in several head races, including the Head of the Ohio and Head of the Charles. The spring sees the teams training for 2,000-meter races starting in March and culminating with the Dad Vail regatta in mid-May.
The main focus of the teams is on their fours, though eights and pairs are also raced. With the current roster, Susquehanna is able to field a varsity, light and novice four for both men and women.
During the winter, practice is mostly conducted on ergonomic machines, broken into groups of four. Practice is conducted on the Susquehanna River from early September through November and then again from late February until the conclusion of the season. The athletes row a combination of afternoon and morning practices to maximize water time and to fit into the athletes' class schedules.
