SELINSGROVE, Pa. - Susquehanna University junior catcher Travis Zook is the Crusaders' lone representative on the 2001 Commonwealth Conference Baseball All-Star Team, earning second-team honors for the second straight season in voting conducted by the league's eight head coaches.
Zook (Belleville, Pa./Indian Valley H.S.) started 23 games and finished second among the Crusader regulars with a .329 batting average (25-for-76). He led the team in runs batted in with 18, tied for the team lead in both doubles (eight) and walks (12) and slugged one of the Crusaders' two home runs during the 2001 season.
Behind the plate, Zook gunned down 13 of 33 opposing base stealers (39.4 percent), and over the last two seasons he has thrown out 31 of 70 runners attempting to steal (44.3 percent).
The Crusaders finished the 2001 season with an 11-16 overall record (4-10 Commonwealth Conference) under third-year head coach Tim Briggs.
Zook is a biology major and the son of John and Jami Zook.
