Zook Named Division III Honorable Mention All-American

Crusader Grid Standout Selected to Hewlett-Packard Team

SELINSGROVE, Pa. - Susquehanna University senior offensive tackle Randy Zook has been named an honorable mention selection to the 2000 Hewlett-Packard Division III All-American Football Team.

Zook (Belleville, Pa./Indian Valley H.S.), the Middle Atlantic Conference Offensive Lineman of the Year and a three-time first-team MAC Commonwealth League All-Star, helped the Crusaders rank second in the MAC in total offense at 391.4 yards per game during the 2000 season.

A tri-captain, Zook started all 10 games at left tackle and was honored with his linemates as members of the D3football.com Team of the Week after the Crusaders knocked off Dickinson 24-13 in the first game at Lopardo Stadium on September 23.

The 23rd annual team was selected by a panel of 30 sports information directors, representing the four playoff regions in NCAA Division III football. Voters made first, second and third team selections with candidates receiving points on a 25-15-10 scale. In addition to the top three teams, players who received 125 or more points earned honorable mention status.

The ballot included 357 players representing 150 of the 227 NCAA Division III football-playing institutions.

Susquehanna finished the 2000 season with a 7-3 overall record (6-3 MAC, 2-3 Commonwealth League) under 11th-year head coach Steve Briggs. It was the 15th consecutive non-losing season for the Crusaders.

Zook is a public relations major and the son of Raymond and Joann Zook.
