CRUSADERS TABBED FOR FIFTH IN COMMONWEALTH POLL

SELINSGROVE, Pa. – The Susquehanna University men’s basketball team has been picked to finish fifth in the Commonwealth Conference during the 2001-02 season, as voted on by the conference’s eight head coaches.

The Crusaders return three starters and add Bucknell transfer Chris Zimmerman (Coal Township, PA/Shamokin Area H.S.) to a squad that finished last in the league in 2000-01 with a 3-11 Commonwealth record and 10-14 overall.

Defending Commonwealth Conference champion Widener earned seven of eight first-place votes in the poll, followed by Elizabethtown, Lebanon Valley, Albright, Susquehanna, Moravian, Juniata and Messiah.

The Crusaders open the 2001-02 season at Houts Gymnasium on Saturday, November 17 at 8 p.m. against Ursinus in the first round of the Pepsi/Weis Markets Tip Off Tournament.
