Umile Profiled in Online Lacrosse Magazine
SELINSGROVE, PA – Susquehanna University senior Giulia Umile is among eight Division III women’s lacrosse goalkeepers profiled in the online lacrosse goalie magazine GoalieNation.com. Umile (Blue Bell, PA/Gwynedd Mercy Academy) is included in the section “Who’s Hot in College” which according to Goalie Nation allows readers to “enter the heads of the better college goalies (and) discover why they play, why they love the game.” She is a three-time first-team All-Middle Atlantic Conference selection and a two-time member of the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Metro Regional All-American team. She holds every Susquehanna women’s lacrosse goalkeeping record, having compiled a 43-18 record and an 8.18 goals against average while playing every minute of all 61 games in her career. Umile also has made 743 saves and compiled a .594 save percentage for the Crusaders, and has finished among the NCAA leaders in save percentage after each of her first three seasons at Susquehanna. The Crusaders have played in the Middle Atlantic Conference championship game in each of the last two seasons, defeating eight-time defending champion Drew 11-10 in overtime last season to advance to the NCAA Division III playoffs for the first time in program history. Susquehanna is 6-5 this season and 4-3 in the MAC under first-year head coach Kate Scattergood. The Crusaders host Elizabethtown on Tuesday at 4 p.m. on the West Field.
