A Double Head for Crusader Softball

Swineford Promoted to Co-Head Coach as Crusaders Prep for Saturday's Season Opener

SELINSGROVE, Pa. - Susquehanna University has elevated former Selinsgrove Area High School three-sport standout and current assistant softball coach Cheri (Dorman) Swineford to the position of co-head coach as the team prepares for its 2001 season opener on Saturday at Salisbury State.

Swineford has served as an assistant for the past four years under seventh-year head coach Vince Anselmo, whose business commitments have forced him to curtail his day-to-day involvement with the team. He will still maintain an active role in the program when possible.

A 1990 Selinsgrove graduate, Swineford was a four-year member of the varsity softball team, also playing three years of varsity tennis and two years of varsity basketball in high school. At Lock Haven, she played second and third base as well as the outfield during her freshman and sophomore years, opting to focus exclusively on her education during her final two years. She graduated from Lock Haven in 1994 with a bachelor's degree in recreation with options in therapeutic recreation and leisure/commercial recreation.

Last season, the Crusaders finished 14-13 overall and placed fourth in the Commonwealth Conference with a 7-7 league record.

She resides in Winfield with her husband, Bill.
