Mount Carmel's Mike Brennan Next Guest at SU's QB Club

SELINSGROVE, Pa. — Mount Carmel Area High School head football coach Mike Brennan is the next guest speaker at Susquehanna University football's weekly Quarterback Club meeting, to be held on Friday, Sept. 12, at 12 p.m.

Brennan has been at the helm of the Red Tornadoes since 2000.

The Quarterback Club is a luncheon that takes place Fridays from 12–1 p.m. during Susquehanna University football season in the Apple Community Room of the university's James W. Garrett Sports Complex in Selinsgrove, Pa. An exception will be Oct. 24 this year because Susquehanna does not play on Oct. 25. Otherwise, the event will happen every Friday during the season whether the team is playing at home or away.

Two mistakes were made in the first announcing of the QB Club. To clarify: the weekly cost for admission and lunch is $8.50. A yearly membership to the QB Club is $40. That amount does NOT include the weekly fee for lunch. QB Club members receive season tickets in a special seating section and admission to the club's annual postseason awards banquet.

The Sept. 12 QB Club luncheon is the first of 2008 to feature Susquehanna's Gus Weber Crusader Football Player of the Week, sponsored this year by Jeff Edmunds, attorney-at-law, and the law firm Carpenter & Carpenter, who will present $100 to the Player of the Week's favorite charity. The first 2008 Player of the Week is junior linebacker Pete Johnsen (Malvern, Pa./Great Valley), who made a game-high 14 tackles at Moravian College on Sept. 6. Johnsen was honored as the Liberty League's football co-Defensive Player of the Week on Sept. 8.

The Crusader Football Player of the Week award is named in honor of the late Gustave Weber, who was Susquehanna's president from 1959 to 1977.

Susquehanna head football coach Steve Briggs and his staff will speak, show 2008's first highlight film and introduce Johnsen, who will also speak. SU's director of athletics communications Robert Healy, III will act as emcee and will give a synopsis of the past week in Crusaders athletics.
