Another Susquehanna Trio Honored as
Landmark Conference Athletes of the Week
MADISON, N.J. — Three Susquehanna University student-athletes were honored as Landmark Conference Athletes of the Week on Nov. 3.
Junior Paul Thistle (Blue Bell, Pa./Wissahickon) was the Landmark's men's cross country Athlete of the Week after taking the men's individual title for the second straight year at the 2008 conference championships with a time of 26 minutes, 46.9 seconds on an 8,000-meter course at Fort Roberdeau in Altoona, Pa., on Nov. 1. Thistle (left) beat out 81 other runners to lead Susquehanna, which won back-to-back men's team championships, and earn himself the Landmark Athlete of the Year award and a first-team all–conference honor for the second year running.

Sophomore Alycia Woodruff (West Chester, Pa./West Chester East) was the Landmark's women's cross country Athlete of the Week after taking the women's individual title for the second straight year at the 2008 conference championships with a time of 23:24.5 on a 6,000-meter course at Fort Roberdeau on Nov. 1. Woodruff (right) beat out 76 other runners to lead Susquehanna, which won the team championship, and earn herself the Landmark Athlete of the Year award and a first-team all–conference honor for the second year running.
Sophomore forward Rhyan Nelson (Manalapan Twp., N.J./St. John Vianney) (left) was the Landmark's men's soccer Offensive Player of the Week after scoring two goals, including the game-winner on a penalty kick in overtime, to lead visiting Susquehanna to a 2–1 Landmark Conference win over The Catholic University of America on Nov. 1. The win gives Susquehanna the No. 2 seed in the Landmark playoffs and a home game against No. 3 seed The University of Scranton in the conference semifinals on Nov. 5 at 7 p.m.
