Four Members of the 2008 Landmark Conference Men's Soccer Champions Selected to All–Landmark Team

MADISON, N.J. — Defensive Player of the Year Isaac Laubach (Millville, Pa./Millville Area) leads a group of four Susquehanna University players selected to the 2008 all–Landmark Conference men's soccer team on Nov. 12.

Laubach, a senior defender, leads a Susquehanna team this year that has posted the most wins in program history on its way to winning the Landmark championship and making its first appearance in the NCAA Division III championships. Laubach is joined on the all–Landmark first team by sophomore midfielder Jim Robertiello (Chester, N.J./West Morris Mendham) and senior midfielder Matt Gawlas (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Mechanicsburg). Sophomore forward Rhyan Nelson (Manalapan Twp., N.J./St. John Vianney) landed on the second team.

Laubach, a co-captain, earns his fourth straight all–conference honor. He earned all–Landmark first-team honors last year as well, all–Middle Atlantic Commonwealth Conference first-team honors in 2006 and an all–MAC Commonwealth second-team award in 2005. He has started all 20 games for the Crusaders this year and scored three goals, including a game-winner. The Susquehanna defense has shut out five opponents in 2008, including a 1–0 win over The Catholic University of America in the Landmark championship game on Nov. 8. Laubach was a Landmark men's soccer Defensive Player of the Week on Oct. 13.

Robertiello has played in 19 games this year with 18 starts and leads Susquehanna with 12 goals, six assists and 30 points. He has scored three game-winning goals. Robertiello was on the all–Landmark second team last year as the conference Rookie of the Year. He was a Landmark men's soccer Offensive Player of the Week this season on Sept. 29 and a Susquehanna Super Crusader from Sept. 22–28.

Gawlas, a co-captain, has started all 20 games in 2008, scoring two goals—both game-winners—and adding an assist for five points. He notched the game-winning goal of the conference championship game. Gawlas was an all–Landmark second-teamer last year and the Landmark men's soccer Offensive Player of the Week this season on Nov. 10.

Nelson, a 2007 all–Landmark first-teamer, leads Susquehanna with four game-winning goals this season. He has totaled nine goals and five assists for 23 points while starting all 20 games. He was a Landmark men's soccer Offensive Player of the Week on Nov. 3.

The Crusaders (13–6–1 overall) will play at Ohio Wesleyan University in the first round of the NCAA championships on Friday, Nov. 14, at 7:30 p.m. If SU wins, it will play the winner of Carnegie Mellon University and Calvin College the next day at 6 p.m., also at Ohio Wesleyan.
