INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — Susquehanna University will be represented by junior Paul Thistle (Blue Bell, Pa./Wissahickon) and sophomore Alycia Woodruff (West Chester, Pa./West Chester East) at the 2008 NCAA Division III men's and women's cross country championship hosted by Hanover College at
the L.S. Ayres Complex in Hanover, Ind., on Saturday, Nov. 22. The men's race is an 8,000-meter event, which starts at 11 a.m., while the women run 6,000 meters, starting at 12 p.m.

Woodruff and Thistle placed eighth and 11th, respectively, at this year's Division III Mideast Region championships hosted by Waynesburg University at Greene County Airport in Waynesburg, Pa., on Nov. 15, to qualify for the national meet. Woodruff ran a time of 22 minutes, 38 seconds over a 6,000-meter course at the regional championships, while Thistle covered 8,000 meters in 25:49.
Thirty-two teams were selected to participate in both championship races. The top two, seven-person teams automatically qualified from each of the eight regions. Sixteen additional teams were selected at-large from around the country. Fifty-six individuals—the first seven athletes from each region who are not part of a qualifying team—were also selected to compete for the individual championship. That equates to 32 teams and 280 total runners. Susquehanna will not be eligible for the team championship. This marks the second straight year that Woodruff and Thistle will compete in their respective national championship races. Woodruff finished 90th out of 280 runners at last year's Division III championship with a time of 22:53 at the St. Olaf College Cross Country Trails in Northfield, Minn., while Thistle placed 172nd of 280 in 26:12.
Thistle and Woodruff won back-to-back Landmark Conference individual titles this season.
Thistle's best 8,000-meter time this year is 25:33.06, which he recorded at the Gettysburg College Invitational in Gettysburg, Pa., on Oct. 18.
Woodruff's best 6,000-meter time this season also came at Gettysburg College. She ran that course in 22:24.66.
