Five Crusaders Named All-Conference in Women's Soccer

SELINSGROVE, PA – Five Susquehanna University women’s soccer players have been selected All-Commonwealth Conference in voting by the league’s eight head coaches, the conference office announced Tuesday.

Junior forward Lindsay Nevins and junior midfielder Jess Paulshock were named first-team All-Conference while senior defender and co-captain Lauren Haner and junior defender Kate McMaster were second-team selections.

Freshman midfielder Jenna Raffetto rounded out the Crusader honors by capturing the league’s Rookie of the Year award, becoming the second Susquehanna player in three years to earn the honor, as Nevins shared with Moravian’s Kelly Haymaker in 2001.

Together, they helped the Crusaders (11-7 overall, 3-4 Commonwealth) set school single-season records for victories with 11 and goals with 52 and helped Susquehanna earn its second straight berth in the Commonwealth Conference playoffs under fifth-year head coach Jim Findlay.

Nevins (Basking Ridge, NJ/Gill-St. Bernards) was a first-team All-Commonwealth selection last season and a second-team pick as a freshman in 2001. She finished the regular season tied for fourth in the conference with nine goals and sixth with 22 points, both career highs.

In 52 career games, Nevins is tied for second in school history with 23 goals and fourth with 53 points.

Paulshock (Pottsville, PA/Pottsville H.S.) earned All-Conference honors for the first time in her career after setting school single-season records with 15 goals and 34 points to lead the Commonwealth in both categories.

Paulshock also set a school record with three hat tricks on the season and tied for the league lead with four game-winning goals. She is tied for second with Nevins on the career goals list with 23 and has 13 assists for 59 points, the second-highest total in school history behind the 102 tallied by Kim Anderson from 1998-2001.

Haner (Glen Rock, NJ/Glen Rock H.S.) repeated as a first-team All-Commonwealth pick after tallying one goal and two assists for four points from her defender position. In 67 career games, Haner has scored four goals and three assists for 11 points.

McMaster (Collegeville, PA/Perkiomen Valley H.S.) is a first-time All-Conference pick after scoring a pair of goals while starting all 18 games on defense. She has played 49 career games and scored three goals and two assists for eight points.

Haner and McMaster helped the Crusaders to a 1.47 goals against average in 18 games, along with three shutouts. Susquehanna allowed one goal or fewer in 12 of its 18 contests.

Raffetto (Wall, NJ/Wall H.S.) appeared in all 18 games and made 12 starts, scoring three goals and three assists for nine points. Susquehanna was a perfect 5-0 in games in which she recorded at least one point.
