STEWARD EARNS VOLLEYBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK HONORS
SELINSGROVE, Pa. – Susquehanna University senior outside hitter Lydia Steward has been named the Commonwealth Conference Player of the Week for the week ending September 15. Steward (Philipsburg, PA/Philipsburg-Osceola H.S.) led the Crusaders to straight-game victories over Messiah, Baptist Bible and Alvernia last week, leading the team in both kills and digs against both Alvernia and Baptist Bible. Steward, who averaged 5.0 digs per game on the week, also became just the fifth player in school history to surpass 800 career digs. Her .560 hitting percentage (14 kills-0 errors-25 attacks) against Alvernia was a team season high. Susquehanna has won a school-record 11 straight matches and will carry an 11-1 overall record into Wednesday’s Commonwealth Conference match at Lebanon Valley.
