THREE NAMED COMMONWEALTH FIELD HOCKEY ALL-STARS
SELINSGROVE, Pa. — Three Susquehanna field hockey players have been named to the Commonwealth Conference All-Star team, as voted upon by the league’s eight head coaches. Senior attack Jeannie Yarrow and junior attack Leah Bailor were first-team selections, while senior defender Sara Fuller was named to the second-team. Yarrow was selected to the second-team last season and Bailor was the conference Rookie of the Year in 1999. Fuller is a first-time selection to the team. The trio helped the Crusaders to an 8-10 record during the 2001 season, including a 4-3 record in the Commonwealth Conference that was good for fourth place to bring the Crusaders to the Commonwealth Conference playoffs for the third straight year. The team’s 10 losses were deceiving as Susquehanna lost seven of their ten decisions to teams that were ranked in the NFHCA Top 20 during the season. Yarrow (West Amwell, N.J./South Hunterdon Regional H.S.) played in 16 games, starting 15 this season, finishing second on the team in scoring with 16 points on five goals and six assists. Her six assists helped her finish eighth in the conference in assists per game (0.38). She scored a pair of goals and added an assist in the team’s 8-0 win over Albright on Sept. 22 and added both goals in a 2-0 win over Widener on Oct. 6. Yarrow ranks sixth in program history in career goals (24), second in assists (19) and fourth in points (67). A marketing major, she is the daughter of Kathleen and Walter Yarrow, Jr. Bailor (Richfield, Pa./Middleburg H.S.) played in and started all 18 games this season, leading the team in scoring for the third straight year with eight goals and a single-season school record 10 assists for 26 points. Bailor led the Commonwealth Conference in assists per game (0.56), while finishing eighth in goals per game (0.44) and fourth in points per game (1.44). Bailor was also named the Commonwealth Conference Player of the Week for the week ending September 9, as she scored two goals and added three assists in the team’s victories over Scranton (4-1), Notre Dame (Md.) (2-1) and Moravian (3-1). Bailor also notched a hat trick, while adding two assists in an 8-0 whitewashing of Albright on Sept. 22. After three seasons, Bailor is already the career leader in assists (23) at Susquehanna and third in goals (29), and points (83). A journalism major, she is the daughter of Mark Bailor and Jane Bailor. Fuller (Mountaintop, Pa./Crestwood H.S.) started all 18 games this season, adding an assist during a 3-1 win over Moravian on Sept. 8. Fuller led a defense that had a 1.60 goals against average and posted three shutouts. Fuller was a four-year letterwinner at Susquehanna, while being a consistent starter in all four season. A public relations major, she is the daughter of Paul and Cindy Fuller.
