Susquehanna's Department of Political Science offers a challenging
opportunity to become more politically literate about the United
States and other countries and about the socio-economic and political
forces that affect the present and the future. The program provides
students with a strong foundation in basic analytical and communication
skills that may be applied to a wide variety of careers.
The department's faculty work closely with students to expand
their political and international awareness, their aspirations,
and their abilities. The department encourages political science
students to complement their major with a minor in another field.
This combination enhances career preparation and expands future
options for students looking forward to law school or graduate
school, teaching, work in government, political office or business.
Of the twenty-two Political Science majors who graduated in May
2008, a number will attend graduate or law school in the fall.
Others have taken positions with the Pennsylvania General Assembly,
Teach for America, and with companies in the private sector.
Dr. Michele DeMary, Associate Professor of Political Science,
was awarded the Student Government Association's Teacher of the
Year Award in May 2008.
