Frequently Asked Questions
Read common questions about the campus construction project below. You can also submit a question here.
Q: With the biology, chemistry, and earth and environmental science departments moving into the new science building, which departments will be relocated to Fisher?
A: By the summer of 2011, we expect the following programs, offices and departments to occupy Fisher Hall: psychology, physics, mathematics & computer science, English (minus creative writing, plus SU Press & Modern Language Studies), sociology & anthropology, music education, career services and tutorial services.
Q: Does the new building imply expansion of any departments (either by additional courses, additional faculty, additional majors accepted, etc.)?
A: Yes, Susquehanna is experiencing increased growth, which means more students and the additional faculty and courses to serve them. We are adding faculty to strengthen the quality of the first- and senior-year experience. Specifically, seven new faculty members will be hired to fully implement senior capstone experiences and to support implementation of the new central curriculum, which places an even greater emphasis on critical learning goals for our students.
Q: How early in the morning will work begin?
A: During the academic year, science building construction will typically begin at 7 a.m.
Q: What academic departments will be located in the new science building when it opens?
A: The biology, chemistry, and earth and environmental sciences departments will relocate from Fisher Hall to the new facility when it opens for the Fall 2010 semester.
