Network Service Technician

The Network Service Technician is primarily responsible for the maintenance of the University’s physical network infrastructure and provides first response troubleshooting and resolution of technical support issues. Responsibilities will include installation and termination of data, voice and TV cabling, and maintaining campus cable infrastructure. The Network Service Technician will install and configure networked printers and copier network integration, provide support for phone and voice systems, and assist the Network Engineer. Some emergency and afterhours support may be required.

The successful candidate will be proficient in the use of PCs, Macs, Dell server systems, networked printers, and specialized diagnostic tools. Must be familiar with Microsoft and Mac software, device drivers, browsers, productivity applications, and various network utilities.

The candidate must have the physical mobility to access campus offices and wiring closets and must be able to lift 50 lbs. Position will also require carrying, standing, climbing, crawling and kneeling. Occasional work in loud, dusty, or confined spaces. The position requires regular contact with staff, faculty, and other university community members as well as the IT Help Desk Team and the Technical Operations staff.

Technical Associate Degree is preferred; candidate must demonstrate proficiency with campus cable infrastructure including EIA/TIA specifications as well as testing and installation of low voltage and fiber optic cables.
