Susquehanna Scholarships
The following non-need awards are awarded on a competitive basis to new students. The awards are renewable annually.
Founders Scholarships
- Full tuition.
- Required documents submitted for an admission decision by Dec. 1, 2008.
- Minimum qualifications: 1350 on the critical reading and math sections of the SAT or 30 on the ACT composite, a 3.5 cumulative high school grade point average calculated on college prep courses, and demonstrated leadership ability.
- An interview with a member of the admission staff is required.
University Assistantships
- $16,000 per year.
- Include work experience, with members of the university faculty or staff.
Valedictorian/Salutatorian Scholarships
- $15,000 per year.
- Recipients rank first or second in their high school classes in a demanding and competitive academic program.
Other Scholarship Awards
Degenstein Scholarships
- Up to $15,000 per year.
- Funded by the Charles B. Degenstein Scholars Program, these scholarships are awarded to exceptionally able students who major or minor in programs within Susquehanna's Sigmund Weis School of Business.
Richard R. Green Memorial Scholarships
- Up to $15,000 per year, based on academic ability.
- Awarded to academically talented students to create a more diverse student body.
Scholarships for Distinguished Achievement in Science and Mathematics
- Up to $15,000 per year.
- Awarded to students planning to major in the sciences, computer science or mathematics. Recipients are chosen on the basis of outstanding academic achievement.
Presidential Scholarships
- Up to $15,000 per year.
- Awarded on a competitive basis to new students who have demonstrated superior academic achievement and personal promise.
Janet Weis Writer's Institute Scholarship
- Up to $15,000 per year.
- Awarded to as many as four outstanding writing majors. Portfolios must be submitted prior to March 1 and will be judged by the writing faculty. The scholarship is partially funded through the Degenstein Foundation.
Susquehanna Scholarships
- Up to $13,000 per year.
- Awarded to new students who have demonstrated outstanding academic achievement and personal promise.
Dean's Scholarships
- Up to $11,000 per year.
- Awarded to new students who exhibit strong academic achievement combined with an outstanding extracurricular record, leadership or volunteer service.
The Lawrence M. and Louise Kresge Isaacs Endowment for Music
- Up to $10,000 per year.
- Awarded to an outstanding music major on the basis of an audition with the music faculty and exceptional academic achievement.
Music Scholarships
- Up to $7,500 per year.
- Awarded to music majors and selected non-majors on the basis of competitive music scholarship auditions. Audition deadline: Feb. 21, 2009.
Alumni Scholarships
- $2,500 per year.
- Awarded to five new students who are children, stepchildren or grandchildren of alumni of the university. Students who apply for admission by Feb.1 are considered. Recipients are selected by the Alumni Association Executive Board.
Ministerial Grants
- $2,500 per year.
- Awarded to dependent children of ordained Lutheran clergy.
Transfer Scholarships
- $7,500 per year with college GPA of 3.0.
- $10,000 per year with college GPA of 3.5.
- Awarded to students transferring to Susquehanna based on outstanding academic achievement.
International Student Scholarships
- Awarded on the basis of academic ability, potential for contribution to campus life and financial need.
