Men's Swim Team

Susquehanna vs. McDaniel (Selinsgrove, Pa.) For the first time in 10 years, a Susquehanna team obtained perfection.

The 11-0 (4-0) Crusaders beat up on non-conference McDaniel College in front of a large senior day crowd on hand at the James W. Garrett Sports Complex natatorium by a 111-67 final.

The last Susquehanna team to go undefeated in the regular season was the men's track and field team in 1998 under legendary coach, Jim Taylor.

Susquehanna's men's swimming team had never gone undefeated before in a season before the 2007-08 season.

Four senior men processed behind the starting block area with their parents at the beginning of the meet to commemorate their years of service on the Crusader team. The seniors included Jeff Fornadley (Hummelstown, Pa./Hershey), Sean Hogan (Plymouth, Pa./Wyoming Valley West), Alex Thurstlic (Chadds Ford, Pa./Garnet Valley) and Brian Savard (Berwyn, Pa./Conestoga). Senior Andrew Lyon (Glenside, Pa./Cheltenham) was unable to attend the senior recognition ceremony but was also recognized for his tenure on the team.

Susquehanna will prepare in the upcoming weeks for the Landmark Conference Championships in Kings Point, N.Y. Male swimmers from Susquehanna as well as Drew University, the United States Merchant Marine Academy, the University of Scranton, the Catholic University of America and Goucher College will compete in an open-qualifying championship meet. With the host site having six lanes, the top 12 finishers in each event will score points. All events will have a preliminary qualifying session followed by a final session at night with the exception of the 1650 freestyle. The 1650 will be a timed final event swum on the meet's final day.
