Amos Alonzo Stagg Field at Nicholas A. Lopardo Stadium

Nicholas A. Lopardo Stadium was dedicated on September 23, 2000, and named for former Susquehanna player Nicholas A. Lopardo ’68, former chair of the University’s board of directors and member of the Sports Hall of Fame.

It replaced the former site of Amos Alonzo Stagg Field, which had hosted Crusader home games for over 100 years and was named for the college football legend who coached with his son at Susquehanna from 1947 through 1952.

A high-tech ProGrass playing surface, selected for natural appearance and lower rates of injury than natural grass, allows for intercollegiate and intramural activities. The playing surface has retained the familiar Stagg Field designation.

Adjacent to Lopardo Stadium is the Douglas E. Arthur Practice Field, which features a natural grass surface.

The stadium provides seating capacity for 3,500 spectators, a concession stand, a bookstore annex, an expanded press box and an eight-lane, quarter-mile track. Lights were installed during the summer of 2002 to permit the Crusaders to play on-campus night games for the first time in program history.
