Summer Academic Programs for High School Students

A writing workshop at SusquehannaHigh school students looking for exceptional summer educational programs have a number of exciting and rewarding options at Susquehanna University. Each program allows attendees to get a taste of college life as they are immersed in weeklong programs that will challenge, inspire and prepare them for the future.

LIFE Institute (Leadership Institute for Entrepreneurship)

Achieving high school students interested in business are invited to attend the summer Leadership Institute for Entrepreneurship (LIFE). The weeklong program puts participants in teams that start and run their own business. Along the way, students learn how to handle the success and challenges that a new business might throw at entrepreneurs.

Wind Ensemble Institute

High school students talented in woodwind, brass and percussion instruments gather for the summer Wind Ensemble Institute. This weeklong experience focuses on chamber music and symphonic wind ensemble performance.

Writers Workshop

Some of the nation’s most talented high school writers come together each summer for the Writers Workshop.  Participants spend a week in intensive, small-group workshops in fiction, creative nonfiction and poetry, headed by nationally recognized authors.

 

Students outside Degenstein Campus CenterSusquehanna University has partnered with national education company Blueprint Admissions to offer new programs this summer. These week-long sections will immerse students in particular course content, as well as college prep seminars and a full-day road trip to New York City.

 

Advertising and Public Relations

Study the ins and outs of the advertising world. Learn what goes into a successful marketing campaign from original concept to final product. Discussions will focus on noted campaigns of the past, and course work will emphasize designing and implementing original ideas. Do you have what it takes, or want to learn what it takes, to close the deal? Join us this summer and find out!  July 18–24

Social Psychology

Using traditional methods as well as new theories, students will delve into the world of social psychology as a means for understanding society. Why do people act a certain way in groups as opposed to alone? How do individuals’ identities relate to their behaviors and attitudes about themselves and the world? July 18–24
