Three Earn All-Conference Honors in Men's Basketball

SELINSGROVE, Pa. – Three Susquehanna University men's basketball players were recognized as Commonwealth Conference All-Stars, as voted upon by the league's eight head coaches and released Wednesday.

Junior forward Kevin Cuff was a first-team All-Conference selection, sophomore forward Joel Patch was selected second-team All-Conference, and freshman guard Bryan Majors was named Rookie of the Year after leading the Crusaders to a 16-9 record and third place in the Commonwealth Conference with an 8-6 league mark.

Cuff (Pottsville, PA/Nativity B.V.M.), a transfer from Division II Millersville University, finished second on the squad in scoring (17.5 points per game) and rebounding (6.6 per game) while leading the team in free-throw percentage (96-for-113, 85.0 percent) and three-point field-goal percentage (37-for-78, 47.4 percent).

Cuff ranked second in the Commonwealth Conference during the regular season in scoring, sixth in rebounding, third in free-throw percentage and second in three-point field goal percentage. He scored in double figures in all 24 games in which he played, including 10 games of 20 points or more.

Patch (Conklin, NY/Susquehanna Valley) was third on the team in scoring at 11.8 points per game and led the Crusaders in rebounds (7.6 per game), field-goal percentage (126-for-234, 53.8 percent) and blocked shots (29).

In the regular season, Patch ranked second in the conference in rebounding, sixth in field-goal percentage and third in blocked shots (1.16 per game), while also leading the team with seven double-doubles.

Majors (Harrisburg, PA/Harrisburg) started all 25 games at point guard and averaged 5.0 points and 4.2 assists per game (second in the league) while leading the Commonwealth Conference with 73 steals (2.92 per game), just three shy of the school single-season record of 76 set by Tres Wolf in 1991-92.

In 14 conference games, Majors averaged 6.0 points, 3.3 assists and 3.1 steals per game, including a season-high 19 points at Albright on Jan. 24.

Joining Cuff on the first team was Messiah senior forward Jared Yoder, who also earned Player of the Year honors, Widener senior guard Malcolm Thomas, Lebanon Valley senior guard Jimmy Curran and Juniata junior forward Brian Cannon.

On the second team with Patch were Widener senior guard Essien Ford, Messiah senior guard Matt Henninger, Albright junior forward Albert Medoro and Juniata senior center Chris Jasiota.

Sharing Coach of the Year honors were Greg Curley of Juniata and Rick Van Pelt of Messiah.
