Keating Named MAC Scholar-Athlete in Track & Field
SELINSGROVE , PA – Susquehanna University senior Patrick Keating was honored by the Middle Atlantic Conference as its Scholar-Athlete in men's outdoor track and field during the annual Awards Luncheon at Widener University on Tuesday. Keating (Pottsville, PA/Nativity BVM) was a three-time medalist at the MAC Outdoor Track and Field championships, finishing second in the hammer throw at the 2006 and 2007 championships and second in the shot put at the 2005 championships. He is also a three-time second-team All-MAC performer, placing sixth in the triple jump at the 2006 and 2007 championships and sixth in the shot put at the 2006 championships.
Keating holds the Susquehanna school indoor records in the shot put and weight throw, and medaled in the weight throw at the MAC Indoor Track and Field championships in 2006 and 2007 and in the shot put at the 2005 championships.
Academically, he maintains a 3.82 cumulative grade-point average as a finance major, and is a member of the Beta Gamma Sigma National Business Honor Society as well as a recipient of the Ruth Steininger Memorial Scholarship for excellence in accounting or finance.
A Dean's List student every semester, Keating is involved with the Investment Club, Student Activities Committee and Habitat for Humanity. He interned with the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development's Office of International Business Development in each of the last two summers.
