2008 Women's Volleyball Program Overview
SELINSGROVE, Pa. — Susquehanna University women's volleyball will be led by sixth-year head coach John "Kuuipo" Tom in 2008. The team posted consecutive 20-win seasons in 2004 and 2005, just the second time in program history that SU had won 20 or more games in back-to-back years.
Though the past two seasons have not been as successful, the Crusaders have been consistently strong on- and off-the-court.
For example, Missy Kadingo '07 and Ainsley Catagnus '09 (Reading, Pa./Reading Central Catholic) earned all-Middle Atlantic Commonwealth Conference honors as second-team members in 2006. Also, current teammates Madeline Hals '10 (Morristown, N.J./Morristown), Katie Peters '10 (Broomall, Pa./Marple Newtown) and 2008 captain Jess Cicioni '10 (Frackville, Pa./North Schuylkill) (right) were honored with inclusion on the 2007 Landmark fall academic honor roll.
Lindsey Jankiewicz '11 (Easton, Pa./Freedom) was second on the team in 2007 in kills with 383 and first in blocks with 77. Cicioni was third in both kills and blocks with 136 and 75, respectively.
Kellye Schroeder '09 (Harleysville, Pa./Christopher Dock Mennonite) is the starting libero for the Crusaders in 2008 and is the program's current record holder in career digs with 1,493.
In addition to playing one or more varsity sports,
Susquehanna women's volleyball players are also actively involved in many on- and off-campus activities, including but not limited to: the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, Student Activities Committee, religious life on campus and the Relay for Life.
