Paveletz Earns Spot on Liberty League First Team
Four Crusaders Honored on Second Team, Honorable Mention
SELINSGROVE, PA – Susquehanna University sophomore Dave Paveletz (Warrior Run, Pa./Hanover Area) was named to the Liberty League first team at running back, the league announced Nov. 13. In addition, Drew Champney (Victor, N.Y./Victor)
earned second-team honors on the offensive line, and fullback Charlie Henry (Toms River, N.J./Toms River North), defensive lineman Andy LeClere (Apple Valley, Calif./Granite Hills) and kicker Bobby Eppleman (Chester Springs, Pa./Great Valley) earned honorable mention.
Paveletz led Susquehanna and the Liberty League in rushing yards with 1,173 and in points scored with 90. He also found himself a spot in the Susquehanna record books for total season rushing yards, sitting second to Matt Wichlinski (1997/1,322 yards).
He was fourth in the league in all-purpose yards with 1,237 and scored the Crusaders' first touchdown in eight of their 10 games. He earned Offensive Player of the Week honors twice, on Sept. 3 and Nov. 12.
Champney anchored an offensive line that cleared the way for Paveletz and
helped the offense rush for an average of 123.1 yards per game. Henry, a tri-captain, rushed for 90 yards and one touchdown on 21 carries, but his real strength was his blocking.
LeClere had 49 total tackles on the season, and was second on team and eighth in Liberty League in tackles for loss with 8.5, and also added a sack.
Eppleman was league Rookie of the Week in his first week out (Sept. 3) as he connected on both of his field goal attempts, averaged 53 yards per kickoff, and was 1-for-2 in PATs. His two-FG performance in that game was the second-best in the league this season.
