Men's, Women's Soccer Earn NSCAA Team Academic Awards

SELINSGROVE, Pa. – For the second straight year, the Susquehanna University men's and women's soccer teams have been recognized by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America for each having team grade-point averages of 3.0 or higher during the 2004-05 academic year.

A total of 318 intercollegiate soccer programs (65 men, 253 women) qualified for NSCAA Team Academic Award with just 48 schools, including Susquehanna, having both their men's and women's teams recognized. Furthermore, Susquehanna is one of 23 schools to earn the Team Academic Award for both men and women in each of the last two years.

Both the Crusader men's and women's soccer teams set school single-season records for victories during the 2004 season, as the men went 11-6-1 while the women finished with a 14-5-1 record and made their second appearance in the conference championship game in three years..

In addition, Susquehanna placed seven men's and 11 women's players on the Middle Atlantic Conference All-Academic Team following the 2004 season.

Both teams are coached by Jim Findlay, who was named Commonwealth Conference men's Coach of the Year in 2003 and women's Coach of the Year in 2002 and 2004.
