Erich Majors ’10
Erich Majors '10, Harrisburg, Pa. | Business Administration – EntrepreneurshipComing from Harrisburg High School, at first Susquehanna was a culture shock, but it grew on me. You meet a lot of different people from different backgrounds, and the diverse campus has broadened my horizons. I enjoy the experience of being at such a prestigious university, and I love the small community. President Lemons knows every freshman’s name and he gives everyone a hug.
I’ve had the chance to be a leader from a football perspective. I said the prayers before each game, and I also led on the field as the team’s top tackler. This past season was a heckuva ride. We won the Liberty Conference title on the last day of the season and advanced to the NCAA Division III playoffs for the first time since 1991. I made the league’s all-defensive team and a lot of the guys also earned league honors.
Being a student-athlete can be challenging at times, with all the work that goes into being both a football player and a student. So I think my greatest achievement has been maintaining a 3.2 G.P.A.
My father unfortunately passed away in 2008, but scholarships my brother and I have earned made it possible for me to spend the spring semester of my junior year in the business school’s London Program. I want to go to graduate school for either management or hospitality management, and London was a great experience. We even traveled to Prague to consult for a Czech tea company. Living away from my brother for the first time in my life and looking at business from a global perspective, rather than just an American one, definitely broadened my horizons even further, both personally and in terms of my business aspirations.
