Ceara Teixeira ’12
Ceara Teixeira '12, Lewiston, Maine | Graphic DesignThere aren’t many graphic design programs in the country, and many of them are at art schools. I swear I applied to almost every one. It took a long time to prepare the portfolio for each school, but I just knew I wanted to be a designer. I was lucky. I had a lot of choices when decision letters arrived at my house. I liked many of the programs, but I wanted a liberal arts education. I also wanted to be challenged. When I visited Susquehanna and saw the senior art show in the gallery, I knew it was where I wanted to study. The student work at Susquehanna was the best.
Susquehanna’s program is hard. I have a lot of work and spend hours in the design lab crafting each and every project. Fortunately I’m always surrounded by other student designers who are really supportive. The professors are fun and easy to get along with, but they have no problem pushing you to do even better. Everyone wants you to do your best.
I’m over eight hours away from my home in Maine. I’m reminded of home when I play ice hockey with Susquehanna’s club team. When I’m not in a design lab, art studio or on the ice, I’m usually hanging out with my friends. Having a group of friends to relax with is very important, and I’ve found the best of friends at Susquehanna.
